Turkey Day!

Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you out there!

Turkey Day is my second favorite holiday - Christmas being my favorite - and considering it's an "adopted" holiday for me as German Ex-Pat in the US it's grown on me in leaps and bounds. Every year I find myself looking forward to turkey goodness in fall. I mean what's not to like? Celebrating your gratefulness for all the good in your life with a scrumptious dinner with friends and family ranks high on my list of favorite things to do, really.Besides, it heralds the begin of the Advent season leading up to Christmas :o)

Finn and I have been busy with our first preparations today. We've taken care of the last grocery store run, bread for stuffing is cut into cubes and getting stale, cornbread is cooling off on the rack, the pumpkin pie is slowly baking, the pie crust for the apple pie (MUST. HAVE. APPLE PIE) is chilling in the fridge and the fresh green beans are all prepped for tomorrow's steaming. In a bit I'll finish up the apple pie for its time in the oven and I might chop some celery for the stuffing before hubby comes home to take care of the turkey.Yep, hubby handles the beast. We have decided it's a man's job and he braves the bird every year with bravado and style. His turkey's have turned out moist and flavorful and he's proud as can be. So am I :o) My hubby cooks a mean turkey, brining, basting and all.

Anyhow, I'm a lucky bug. I have many many things in my life to be thankful for. I'm blessed - simple as that.
