Let's recap
Holiday cheer
In case you are writing Christmas Cards how about dropping in here www.letssaythanks.com and sending one of those cards ?
And no, this is not an invitation to discuss politics or the war or the like with me :o)
4 Squirrels for a little angel
Yesterday twe nutty Squirrels adopted an angel from one of the Salvation Army Angel Trees and now we're happily scampering all over town gathering little treats for our Christmas angel.
Falalalalalalala :o)
Happy St Nikolaus Day !
Today you'll find first proof whether you have been naughty or nice this past year. Well, that is when you're German :o)
On the 6th of December we celebrate St Nikolaus Day. The evening before German children shine their shoes and lace them in front of their doors [or like we did on our porch] and hope that St Nikolaus wont leave just coals and sticks but nuts, clementines and candy and other treats. Last night Finn andI sat down just before bedtime scrubbing his shoes. He'd chosen his favorite Spiderman sneakers; I guess he'll grow into the 'the bigger the shoe, the more loot fits into it' soon enough and was rather pleased he went for a small pair of shoes for now :o) Once they were clean we brought them outside and positioned them strategically for St Nikolaus atop the table in very plain sight.
Finn scrambled to bed and was out in no time after two books, a lullaby and a snuggle.
This morning he listened in wonder when I told him that I thought Id heard the bells on Nikolaus' sleigh when I woke in the middle of the night and hand in hand we went to check his shoes. We'd assisted Nikolaus by filling Finndragon's shoes with chocolate and his beloved candy canes adding a preschooler workbook and a movie for good measure. The expression of bright-eyed wonder on Finndragon's face when we discovered what Nikolaus had left for him is indescribable. You have to see it and once you see the pure wonder wrought by Christmas magic on a child's face you know the purpose of life. It's to-die-for :)
I can't wait for Christmas ! And yes, you may hate me but it's my favorite time of the year :)
December is busy, busy, busy and I keep chugging along taking care of family, christmas preparations, event preparations and vigil preparations. Scrolls need to be made, prizes arranged, schedules drafted, packlists finalized, garb sewn and and and.
Sunday we had a splendid Castlemere Cookies dinner. Early Andalusia was our theme and Tamara's chicken dish won first prize. That'll show up on our normal dinner table sometime soon. It was delicious !
The past three days I have whipped up 6 new bee banners for my vigil area which are now in the process of being painted. 13 linedrawings for much needed AoA scrolls are now distributed between three scribes, and more are in the making. Tonight I'll pass on the office of Minister of Arts & Sciences here in my local group. I can't believe it's been two whole years since I took over the office. How much has happened- what a ride !
On with the show :
There's laundry to fold, lunch to fix and a munchkin to entertain, get fed and ready for his nap. Then my Finndragon will come home from school and we have a few christmas crafts planned for today after hubby and I share lunch together .... wheeee ! Somebody make the world slow down ! *L*
